Witty Imaginitive Illustrations | Brix and Bailey Blog

Brix + Bailey have been busy designing their eponymous bag and accessory brand for a lifetime it seems. Their work is inspired by many things...their childhood, travels & designers & artists they have grown to love & admire. Think Chirico, Magnelli for his skill at Abstraction and Futurist elements Fornasetti and of course the iconic soprano Lina Cavalieri  whom was described as bering "the most beautiful woman in the world" by Fornasetti, and of course, Salvador Dali.

The design duo include their favourite themes of history, design, literature & surrealism in their bag designs. There is a common thread of humour and a sense of play, a keen eye for detail and intrigue in their bag designs and the brands illustrations.

A lifelong favourite artist is Fornasetti [ rumour has it that the family have collected Fornasetti furniture, home textiles and ceramics for decades ]

A reflection of this love for the brand guides the family to stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Milan [ for special occassions only sadly ] where the Fornasetti Suite  and amazing dining room is booked.

Fornasetti Suite

This Piero Fornasetti-inspired suite has original pieces and a courtyard view.

Dedicated to Piero Fornasetti and furnished with numerous original Fornasetti pieces, this unique suite consists of living room, bedroom and guest bathroom. A vast bathroom features a walk-in shower and Agape ‘Spoon XL’ bath.

This suite celebrates Fornasetti's exuberant designs with a mood that's playful, yet sophisticated. Located on the second floor, the floor traditionally used by Italian nobility, the living room is adorned with ‘Riflesso’ wallpaper, with the ‘Ultime Notizie’ table in the dining area. Accessed via a corridor with ‘Architettura’ console table, the bedroom is dressed with ‘Chiavi Segrete’ wallpaper and features a desk and interfacing mirrors. Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Milan
