Of all the \u003ca href=\"\/en-gb\/collections\/kids-play-toys-games\"\u003etoys\u003c\/a\u003e in the house, the ones that held their interest longest were busy boards: a single panel of real things to open, turn, slide and click. So the family began making their own, and very sensibly never stopped.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach board is cut from plywood and finished in water-based paint, with every latch, lock, zip, gear, bead and little door fixed on with screws and glue, because toddlers test things rather more thoroughly than any laboratory. They run from a portable 30 × 40 cm board for the sofa or the floor to an extra large 60 × 80 cm board with room for siblings and playdates, and most of the bigger ones are made to go on a \u003ca href=\"\/en-gb\/collections\/baby-kids-decor\"\u003eplayroom wall\u003c\/a\u003e, which also stops them wandering off.
