Bars Instead Of Bottles, Made In Devon.

The bathroom is the one room in the house that has quietly filled up with plastic while everybody was looking elsewhere, and a shampoo bar solves the whole problem with almost insulting simplicity. This lot have been at it since 2016, when they made soap and nothing else, and they now turn out a full range of solid hair and body care from a workshop in Devon. No bottle, no pump, no half empty thing at the back of the shower that nobody can identify.

A Bar For Nearly Everything.

Shampoo bars at seventy grams, conditioner bars at sixty, soap bars, bath bombs and body scrubs, all of it made by hand in the same workshop. A solid bar also lasts an implausibly long time and travels beautifully, which is why they turn up so often in wash bags and rucksacks rather than staying at home. Scented With Essential Oils.

The scents are the properly good bit: lemon and eucalyptus, eucalyptus and spearmint, spiced cedar, cedar and pine, spiced orange, patchouli and rose, rosemary and lime, lavender and lime. Clays and plant powders do the work on texture and colour, so the bars look like the ingredients that went into them rather than like something poured from a tank. Nine Years In The Making.

The company started with good soap, removed single use plastic from the range in 2017, and moved into a larger Devon workshop in 2020 with a team big enough to keep up with demand. The packaging is plastic free and so is the post, which is the part most brands quietly skip. Very much the sort of operation we look for among our British makers and small batch artisans.
