When it all began we were two siblings with a bag brand, considerable optimism, and a studio in London that was frankly too small for the both of us. We designed things we fancied ourselves, sold them in New York and London, and picked up, along the way, a network of independent brands and boutiques doing extraordinarily good work.

Then we noticed something rather awkward. The best of them, the small-batch ceramicists, the London ateliers, the New York designers making things by hand, were almost impossible to find unless you already knew exactly where to look.

They deserved a proper home. Something built around them rather than bolted on afterwards as a marketing afterthought. So we built it, which took rather longer than we had cheerfully assumed.

What Brix + Bailey Is Now

A curated global marketplace for interesting brands across fashion, home, art and lifestyle. Hundreds of brands, and counting. All handpicked, which is exactly as labour-intensive as it sounds.

Handpicked by a team who have spent more than a decade in this world, and have developed, if nothing else, rather strong opinions about what is worth your attention.

Every brand is judged on craft, originality, quality of make, and that harder-to-name business of having a genuine point of view. The kind of brand that makes you stop scrolling and actually look, which, these days, is no small feat. More on how we choose brands.

London + New York

We operate between London and New York, because that is where we happen to be. The brands are another matter entirely: mostly British and European, with America well represented and the occasional outlier in Copenhagen, Paris, Kolkata and Sydney. We are not remotely sentimental about geography. What matters is the work, not the postcode.

What We Actually Do

We do the looking, so you are spared it. We find the brands, vet them, onboard them, and present them as they deserve to be presented. You browse, discover and buy, safe in the knowledge that someone with taste and rather too many years of doing this has already done the tedious part.

We also build our own technology, which we had not entirely planned on. Onboarding a brand by hand took two days when we started, so we wrote the tools to make it take an afternoon, and then, being incapable of leaving things alone, kept going. It turns out a marketplace for independent brands needs software that simply does not exist off the shelf.

Founded by two siblings, still family-run and independently owned, now with a growing team behind it and, mercifully, more hands than it started with. Independently minded, and still slightly obsessed with finding things that are genuinely worth finding.
