Begat Woodcraft

Made From the Bits Nobody Else Wanted.

Burr wood is what happens when a tree goes wrong. A knotted, swirling mess of a growth that any sensible timber merchant would put on the fire, and which turns out, once someone has spent twenty-five years in engineering and acquired the patience of a saint, to be the most beautiful thing in the workshop. Begat Woodcraft is one man in Yorkshire, a lathe, and a quantity of wood with a difficult past.

He turns it into pepper mills, bowls and vessels, often pouring bright resin into the gaps where the tree's poor decisions used to be. There are live-edge oak boards, pizza cutters and bottle openers too, and personalised oak pieces for the fifth wedding anniversary, which is the wood one, as the internet will have already told you.
