Ribera Handmade Ceramics
No moulds, no shortcuts, no two the same
Every Ribera piece starts as a lump of clay and passes through hands repeatedly before it is finished: thrown, trimmed, dried, bisque-fired, glazed, then fired again above 1200°C until the clay vitrifies. No moulds at any stage. What survives the process is the interesting part: fingerprints, glaze that pooled where it wanted to, no two quite matching. Ribera says its pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.
The look draws on wabi-sabi, the idea that the imperfect thing is the beautiful one, in natural tones and quiet shapes with a Mediterranean streak running through them. Mugs, bowls, plates, serving platters and pour-over sets, with bespoke orders taken for restaurants and hospitality.
The studio works in Bristol, uses lead-free food-safe glazes, reclaims unused clay and water rather than binning it, and packs everything in plastic-free recyclable materials.
