Clare and Darren Cooper went to India in 2016 to do yoga and see the country, and spent part of it at an Ayurvedic retreat in Kerala where the plants growing on the grounds were turned into the oils used in the treatments. Watching the whole thing happen from soil to bottle turned out to be the useful part of the holiday. Clare had already spent twenty years as a hair and makeup artist and knew her way around a formulation, so she came home, studied aromatherapy properly, and the two of them began blending in Essex, where they remain.
The Sleepy Head pillow spray made their name and the reviews for it are frankly unhinged, in the best possible way. Around it sits a full apothecary: the Superfood Firming Serum and the Luna Goddess Night Serum, a grapefruit cleansing oil, face and body oils, bath salts in eucalyptus and rosemary or vanilla and rose, natural wax candles, room sprays, shower steamers, rollerball oils, and a lavender flaxseed eye pillow for anyone who has decided the day is over. Everything is made in England in small batches and certified vegan by the Vegan Society.
