Handmade Ceramic Ducks From A London Studio. Yes, Really.

It started with a beak on a vase

In 2019 a ceramicist called Tex put a beak on a vase he was making, painted it orange, dabbed on some eyes and fired it. He posted a photo to a Facebook group for people who like ducks, and woke up to an inbox full of requests for more. He has been making them ever since.

Named by a smart speaker at two in the morning

The brand needed a name. A smart speaker in his house woke him at 2am, unprovoked, reciting driving directions to a road in Crewe called Richard Moon Street, named after a real Richard Moon who did a great deal with railways during the Industrial Revolution. It fitted, and nobody had taken the Instagram handle. This is the level of deliberation we are dealing with, and the ducks are all the better for it.

An entire cast, with names

The ducks have multiplied into geese, chickens and pigeons, all with names and personalities and their own accessories. Ed with the Bread carries a baguette. Val with the Pal has a yellow bath duck companion at all times. The Silly Goose with Bread Expansion Pack comes with bread-slice necklaces that double as napkin rings. Alongside them sit vases, planters, pet bowls, salt and pepper shakers and the Haus of Honk kitchenware range. Custom commissions taken.

Every one thrown by hand

Everything carrying the Richard Moonstreet stamp is thrown on the wheel and finished by Tex himself, start to end, in London. No shortcuts and, as he puts it himself, no AI.
