Ally Scandic

A changing bag that does not look like a changing bag.

Silja Lipp designed Ally Scandic in Estonia after two sons and a long, fruitless search for a bag that could carry everything a baby requires without announcing to the room that a baby was involved. Her position, stated plainly on her own site, is that not everything made for children needs to look childlike. So these come in espresso and cappuccino rather than cartoon animals, with gold zips and metal hardware, and they read as a decent backpack because that is what they are. The part parents actually care about.

The front opens flat, so nothing has to be excavated. Pockets are placed and sized to be worked one-handed, which is the only test that matters. There are removable straps for hanging it off a pushchair, metal studs on the base to keep it out of whatever is on the pavement, and padded adjustable shoulder straps. The material is PU, sold as vegan leather: light, water repellent and wipeable. Look through backpacks and baby and kids accessories.
