Barbara Horspool spent a career in clothing at The White Company, Jigsaw, New Look, Marks & Spencer and Esprit, which is to say she knows precisely what makes a garment work and what makes it fall apart. What she could not find was restwear that treated the hours at home as seriously as the hours at the office. So she made it, with her daughters, and launched the first fifty pieces in 2025.
Named after a goddess of dreams
Mamu is the Mesopotamian goddess of prophetic dreams, which is a considerable amount of ambition to attach to a pyjama, and rather a good name regardless.
No ties, no elastic, no buttons
That is the rule, and everything is cut around it. Cashmere, alpaca, modal, organic cotton, washable stretch silk, lace camisoles. Pieces that move between a slow morning and an unplanned evening without a change of clothes, on the principle that getting dressed for an evening in deserves the same thought as getting dressed for an evening out.
