Handmade mugs, cups and glassware from independent potteries and glass studios at Brix + Bailey

Glasses, Cups + Mugs

You own eleven mugs and drink from one of them.

Everybody does. The chosen mug is chosen for reasons nobody can quite articulate: the weight of it, where the handle meets a finger, whether the rim is thin enough. This collection is an attempt to stock more of that mug and fewer of the other ten. Hand-thrown stoneware, porcelain cups, tumblers, double-walled glasses, wine glasses and carafes, from independently owned potteries and glass studios. Browse the full kitchen and dining edit.

Ceramic on one side, glass on the other.

The ceramics come mostly from small potteries, which means reactive glazes and pieces that vary a little from one to the next. It also means the care instructions matter: some are dishwasher and microwave safe and some emphatically are not, and that is on each product page rather than buried. The glassware runs from everyday tumblers to slim flutes and cut glass. Meet the people behind a good deal of it in pottery and glass artists.

For the ritual, whichever one it is.

Coffee at seven, tea at eleven, something else entirely at six. Fill them from our tea and coffee collection, set the rest of the table with dining and tableware, find something closer to home in British brands, or give one away in our gifts edit. Everyone we stock is in the brand directory, and the stories are in the editorial.

For Independent Brands

If you're making something rather good, we'd love to hear about it.

We're selective. In the nicest possible way.
