Gumbies was founded in Manly, Australia in 2006 with a mission to make the world's best flip flop from recycled and natural materials — and a fairly convincing argument that they've succeeded. The iconic Islander uses a Gumtread™ sole made from recycled rubber bonded with jute, topped with breathable canvas. The slipper range uses second-life felt from recycled plastic bottles. Every pair sold since March 2021 has planted a mangrove tree or recovered ocean plastic — over 164,000 trees and 62 tonnes of plastic recovered to date.
