HOIA Homespa

Made on an Island, By Hand.

HOIA homespa is made in Kuressaare on Saaremaa, the largest of Estonia's islands and part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which is the sort of address that does a certain amount of work before anybody opens a jar. The formulator makes everything herself in small batches, controlling what goes in from raw ingredient to finished product.

Local where it matters, imported where it helps.

Saaremaa wild algae, Estonian juniper, nettle and sage sit alongside argan and cedar from further afield, on the sensible principle that geography is a starting point rather than a rule. There are cold-pressed seed oils, body whips and scrubs, face creams, sprays and a lavender shower gel in proper black glass.

Small batches, which cuts both ways.

Fresher, but less of it, and the odd variation between batches because that is what happens when plants rather than a factory determine the outcome. The bottles come back for refilling, which tells you the whole operation is built at a human scale.
