It started with her son's nursery

Katie Hipwell spent over a decade designing prints for fashion and interior brands in London before going looking for wallpaper for her son's nursery and finding nothing she wanted. So she painted her own, and launched the business in 2018. She works from Devon now.

Watercolour, then wallpaper

Every design begins as an original hand-painted watercolour rather than something assembled on screen, which is why the animals have expressions. Woodland scenes drawn from British countryside wildlife, safari and rainforest, flower fairies, unicorns, dinosaurs, trucks and diggers, rockets and planets. Deliberately gender neutral throughout, so a design survives a change of occupant.

Printed in England, made to order

The artwork is printed in England onto 180gsm non-woven paper, high strength, light fast and wipeable, and pastes straight to the wall. Murals come in 52cm by 240cm panels, and anything taller gets drawn up as a custom design. Everything is made to order, which is why it takes a few weeks and why it arrives right.

Beyond the walls

There are matching lampshades, bedding, curtain fabric with a made-to-measure service, greeting cards and fine art prints. Katie also takes commissions, including pet portraits and wedding bouquet illustrations, which she does properly and by hand.
