Middle Earth Yoga
For the long and occasionally perilous road from the Shire to savasana.
Middle Earth Yoga was started by yoginis with a quarter of a century of practice behind them and, it turns out, an equally long-standing devotion to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Rather than keep the two passions politely apart, as most of us would, they put them together. They then spent more than two years on the grip alone, which is longer than it took some of us to finish the books, and the result is a mat made for asana, meditation and yoga nidra, with artwork that brings Middle-earth to the floor of your sitting room. The designs are officially licensed, which feels only right. One does not simply borrow Middle-earth.
The yoga mats are vegan PU leather over natural rubber, free of PVC, and deliberately longer, wider and thicker than the usual sort, so there is room for even the tallest of wanderers. Alongside them sit brushed organic cotton and Cashwool blankets, generous enough for the end of class or the end of a long day on the sofa, plus mugs and travel mugs for the cup of tea that follows. The brand also gives to Trees for Life, a charity replanting the Scottish Highlands, which seems a very fitting habit for anyone this fond of ancient forests.
