Porcelain Jewellery From a Riga Studio, Fired Three Times and Painted in Gold. Patience, Wearable.

Rozenthal Jewelry was launched in 2016 by Madara Rozentāle, a Latvian ceramic designer with a master's degree in Ceramics from the Art Academy of Latvia and more than a decade at the wheel, so to speak. She is the creator and owner, and every collection starts where she does: with art, and with the shapes and colours found in nature. Flower petals, tree branches, cloudy skies and the occasional rough cliff. The pieces themselves are simple, pure, lightweight and genuinely enjoyable to wear.

Three firings, marble patterns and a steady hand

Every piece follows the traditional ceramic craft in full, worked in Madara's signature technique. Raw porcelain is shaped and cut by hand, fired once, then polished and glazed and fired again, then hand-painted with a precious metal coat of gold or platinum luster and fired a third time, the hottest at 1260 degrees. The marbling in the clay and the hand-painting mean no two pieces are ever quite alike, which is precisely what you want from something worn next to your face. Even the gold-filled earring hooks are made in the studio.

From daisies to river pearls

The range runs from playful, nature-led pieces, like the lightweight Daisy earrings, to more sculptural work combining porcelain with delicate river pearls. Some designs are colourful, some minimalist, and all of them arrive gift-boxed, which makes the wrapping question pleasingly redundant.
