Fauna London
Good design for good dogs
Started by someone who could not find what she wanted
Fauna London began with a founder called Laurian noticing that pet products almost never manage to be useful and good-looking at the same time. The category runs on novelty and mass production, which is why so much of it ends up hidden when guests arrive. Fauna is the corrective: pieces designed to sit in the room rather than be tidied out of it, made for people who care as much about how a thing is made as how it looks.
Designed in London, made to be lived with
The range covers the everyday apparatus of dog ownership done properly. Collars, leads and harnesses, bowls and lick mats, beds, coats, carriers and toys that hold a dog's attention for longer than the walk home. Quiet colours, considered proportions, materials chosen to survive a wet Tuesday. The studio is in west London's design district, which tells you roughly where the brand's head is.
Founded and run by a woman
Fauna is a women-led business, currently building out its own branded range, and it is exactly the sort of independent operation we like finding early. There are more of them in Women-Led, and the rest of our London and UK brands are in British Brands.
For the dog, or the person who owns one
Have a browse through the rest of our Pets collection, or the Gifts edit, where Fauna does rather well with people who have a dog and no obvious present.
