Luangisa African Gallery

Beadwork, Basketry and a Great Deal of Colour.

Luangisa African Gallery has been part of Mount Vernon, New York since 1996, run by a Tanzanian family with a lifelong love of the craft of the continent they come from. Everything is handmade by artisans in Africa, from Zulu basket hats woven in South Africa to beaded Cameroon shields and Kuba cloth cushions, and no two pieces ever come out quite the same.

The beaded jewellery is the place to start, bold enough to carry an entire outfit on its own, and the market baskets are the sort that get used every weekend for years and still look better than anything else in the hallway.

For more to fill a room, have a browse of our home + decor and cushions, or carry on to necklaces for something to wear. There are more businesses like this one in family owned, and more from across the Atlantic in American by design.
