Furniture at the Right Height for the People Who Actually Use It. Which, Admittedly, Is Not Us.

OakHill is a small family-run workshop in Latvia making Montessori-inspired furniture for children. The idea behind it is refreshingly simple: if a small person can reach their own books and toys, they will tend to get them out, and occasionally even put them back. We cannot promise the second part. That is between you and your toddler.

Everything is made from birch plywood, cut by CNC for accuracy and then finished by hand, so the edges are smooth and the joins fit. The range includes double-sided book display shelves with the covers facing outwards, so a two-year-old can choose by picture, and open toy shelves with a deep bottom compartment for the soft toys and blocks that never fit anywhere else. Rounded side handles mean they can be moved from nursery to playroom without a second adult.

It is all produced in small batches, which is why it looks rather better than the flat-pack alternative and will outlast at least one change of bedroom colour scheme.
