Candles With A Latvian Forest Pressed Into Them.

Terēza Luksa spent her childhood in Ventspils, the windy town on Latvia's western coast, roaming between rocky beaches and pine forest. She then spent rather a long time in real estate, walking through other people's empty rooms and noticing how cold a space can feel with nothing in it. In 2018 she started pouring candles instead, and the two halves of her life turned out to fit together neatly: the collections are named SILVA for the forest and MARE for the sea, which tells you most of what you need to know about where she would rather be.

The candles are hand-poured natural soy wax with lead-free cotton wicks, and the properly lovely detail is the botanicals. Ferns and herbs gathered from Latvian meadows and forests are set into the wax, and once the candle is lit they glow through it like something pressed in a window. The scents run from lavender and lemongrass to pine, juniper and amber, in everything from small votives to substantial pillars, and there are concrete candle holders alongside them, circular and planetary in inspiration, plus goat milk soaps with clay and amber for anyone who likes a bathroom that matches the sitting room.
