Named After A Dressmaker And A Production Manager

Lily and Lionel were real

They were Alice Stone's grandparents on her mother's side, and both spent their lives in textiles. Lily was a dressmaker of some skill. Lionel ran production for London's most prestigious high street stores. Alice went to the London College of Fashion, started a scarf label in 2008, and gave it their names, which under the circumstances was the only reasonable thing to do.

Every print starts with an object

An old button. A scrap of embroidered fabric. Something quirky found somewhere and kept. The prints are drawn or painted by hand in the London studio and worked outwards from whatever it was, which is why opening out a scarf tends to reveal more than you expected.

From scarves to everything else

What began as accessories became a print house: dresses, shirts, skirts and scarves, four collections a year, stocked in over a hundred and fifty shops around the world. The prints remain the point, and they are not available anywhere else, since nobody else drew them.
