The Brand That Had to Rename Itself, and Did It Rather Well.

MaiWistik is an Estonian skincare brand that started life in 2019 under a different name, until a German cosmetics company objected to it, which is the sort of letter nobody enjoys opening. The replacement turned out better anyway. "Mai" stands for Ma Armastan Iseend (I love myself), and "Wistik" nods to both old plant wisdom and istik (seedling). We'd have picked something shorter and regretted it.

Mostly Plants You've Walked Past.

The range leans on Estonian plants: meadowsweet, horsetail, yarrow, oregano, chamomile, pine, red clover and lady's mantle, with hemp oil and beeswax doing a lot of the quiet work. It's made in Estonia and mostly packed in dark glass jars, handsome enough that you may keep the empties without the faintest idea what for.

Everything Ends in "-ik".

Clensik is a meadowsweet cleansing oil, Happik a meadowsweet and horsetail face balm, Freshik a cream deodorant and Bloomik a body and massage oil. The naming is consistent to the point of being quite charming. There are face yoga cards as well, for anyone prepared to give their face a workout, which is more than most of us manage for the rest of ourselves.
