Named After a Plant, Mostly.

Bonobo was started in Estonia in 2014 by Kristi Kalluste, whose own skin turned difficult after her first child was born, and who responded by learning to make her own cosmetics rather than buying another bottle that didn't work. The results are plainly named, which is refreshing in a category where everything else is called Radiance Elixir.

The face tonics come named for the plant in them: peony, lemon balm, St John's wort, rose hip, mint. There are face creams pairing chamomile with lady's bedstraw, calendula with rose hip, body creams in coconut and lime or sea buckthorn and calendula, and body scrubs that read more like a fruit bowl than a bathroom cabinet.

Lavandula and Juniper, alongside lip balms, cream deodorants and gift boxes for when someone else has to be bought something and you have run out of ideas by about the twelfth of December.
