Meraki Beach began in 2018 as an online boutique finding boho pieces for women around the world. It went well, and then went further, because selling other people's work turns out to be a good education in what you would rather be doing yourself. A chance meeting with a like-minded colleague did the rest.

Kimonos from Rajasthan, leggings from recycled bottles

The SOLARA kimonos are handmade by Saheli Women in rural Rajasthan, an organisation providing fair wages and skilled work. Resortwear is organic cotton made in Turkey, silk pieces in India, and the MB Active range is designed and made in the UK from recycled nylon. Four origins, all of them stated.

The certifications have names

The recycled nylon is GRS certified. The factories are amfori BSCI audited and Sedex members. The dyes are OEKO-TEX certified. That is a considerably duller sentence than most sustainability copy and rather more use to anybody checking.

Made for heat, mostly

Kimonos, dresses, peshtemal towels and beachwear for the fortnight it is actually needed, alongside leggings and tops built for yoga, pilates, padel and the school run, which is where most activewear genuinely gets worn.
