An Archive That Got Out.

There are several hundred drawings in ours. Pen, ink, paint, a great deal of cross-hatching, most of them made because somebody wanted to draw something rather than because anybody needed one. They sat there being no use to anybody. Now they are on lampshades and plates, to begin with, and on a good deal more once we have worked out how.

Old Forms, Wrong Contents.

A toile is supposed to have shepherdesses in it. Ours has a wheelie bin and three enormous flies. A dinner plate is supposed to be reassuring. Ours asks you to leave. From across a room they all look perfectly well behaved, which is the point. Nothing here shouts, and then you get closer.

Every pattern started as an actual drawing by an actual hand, and nothing is made until somebody orders it. No warehouse, no unsold stock, and no slightly panicked sale in six months because we accidentally ordered four thousand.

The Only Things on This Site We Drew Ourselves.

Everything else on Brix + Bailey belongs to one of the independent brands we stock, and we would rather they had the attention. This is the small corner that is ours, and it is getting larger. It sits alongside the rest of the home and decor edit.
