Ollie and Sophie started this in 2019 out of a shared irritation at how much perfectly good glass ends up in a bin every time a candle runs out. Their answer was to design the jar first and the candle second: one handsome refillable vessel you buy once, and refills thereafter. The jar stays on the shelf and gets a new life every few months, which is a considerably more sensible arrangement than throwing away something beautiful because the wax has gone.
The scents are built around places rather than ingredient lists. Medina Rose takes you to the souks and rose gardens of Marrakech, rose and geranium over sandalwood standing in for a Moroccan sunset. San Marco is Venice after dark: dark plum, vanilla bean and sandalwood, doing canals, palazzos and a certain amount of intrigue. Everything is hand poured in the UK in small batches from natural soy wax with cotton and linen wicks, and each refill runs to around forty hours, which is a great many evenings.
