Tops, Shirts + T-shirts

The Layer Everything Else Is Built On.

A top is doing more work than almost anything else in a wardrobe and gets a fraction of the thought. It is the thing under the coat, over the trousers, visible on a video call, and worn on the days when nothing else in the house is appealing. Which is a rather good argument for owning a few that are not simply there to make up the numbers.

Shirts with a collar that holds its shape, blouses in fabric that moves properly, printed tees worth looking at twice, and the quieter layering pieces that make everything else behave. What separates them is usually the small things: the drape, the way a sleeve is set, whether the hem sits where you want it when you lift an arm. None of it photographs and all of it matters by about four in the afternoon.

For the rest of the outfit, have a browse of our trousers and jeans and coats and jackets collections, or carry on to knitwear, accessories and the full women's edit. There are more good presents in gifts for her, and the stories behind the makers are in the journal.
