GoGoNano

A spray that makes water fall off your shoes.

GoGoNano is an Estonian company that has been making nano coatings since 2013. The principle is straightforward: a very thin layer bonds to the fibres of a fabric or the surface of a screen, and water, wine and road salt sit on top of it rather than soaking in. Their Stay Dry spray for textile and leather is where most people start, rated at up to eighteen months on something used occasionally and four to six months on something that takes a hammering. What it does not do, which is worth knowing first.

Treated garments need washing in warm water without detergent, because the coating is sensitive to it. That is a genuine constraint on clothing and worth deciding about before you buy rather than after. The company also notes that the full superhydrophobic effect depends on fibre structure, and that leather does not achieve it the way a woven textile does. Useful on footwear and bags, then, but read the instructions properly.
