Scottish Brands
We are a little late getting round to this, for which we can only apologise.
In our defence, it is a small collection because we are fussy rather than because Scotland is short of good things, which it very much is not. Every business here is based in Scotland, and we have checked, a process involving a great deal more paperwork than standing about admiring tartan and which is, regrettably, the only method we trust.
What turns up, mostly, is the sort of thing a long Scottish evening is good for: candles poured by hand a few at a time, homeware in colours that would be entirely wasted on beige, and gifts that post well, which is useful if you are sending a little of Scotland to someone who has moved away and is, one suspects, slightly regretting it. We had a line here about the weather and were talked out of it, quite firmly, by people who live there.
It will grow, though not quickly, since a brand only joins once we know where it is based and, ideally, where its things are made. We have been told this is an unusually slow way to build a collection. We have also been told that tartan, however convincing, is not evidence, which was, we admit, a blow.
For more for the long evenings, have a browse of our home fragrance and home decor collections, or carry on to cushions, throws and blankets and gift sets. There are more businesses like these in small batch artisans, and more close to home in our British-made collection.
