Three children, and a limit reached
Helen has three children, which is a reliable route to an obsession with storage baskets, and at some point she concluded that the available options were either practical or attractive and never both. Bellybambino is the result: seagrass baskets with faces, made so that tidying up is marginally less of a negotiation.
Lions, giraffes, jellyfish and one starfish
Each basket is hand-woven, then hand-embroidered and painted, which means no two animals come out quite alike. The seagrass shifts slightly as it is worked, so a lion made on Tuesday has a different expression from a lion made on Thursday. Sizes run from small to extra large, the extra large being the one you will actually need.
Tested on the toughest available panel
Every new design goes to Helen's own children first, and the ones they take to make it into the range. It is the most efficient quality assurance available to a parent and considerably cheaper than a focus group.
Somebody official kept agreeing
Gold at the Made For Mums Awards in 2020 for Best Nursery Accessory, then 2021 for Best Eco Friendly Product, then 2022 for Best Toy Storage. Three consecutive years, judged partly by home testers in real houses with real children, which is the only test that matters here.
