Men's Grooming

The Bathroom Shelf, Improved.

Most grooming products are sold on a promise and made to a price, which is why the average bathroom shelf holds a lot of things that smell like a duty-free hall and do very little. The difference with a properly made one is obvious about four days in. Soap that leaves your face feeling like a face. A razor that outlasts the year. Beard oil that smells like a plant rather than a shopping centre.

What's in it.

Beard oils, balms and washes, shaving soaps and brushes, face and body cleansers, moisturisers, hand and body wash, deodorants and scent. Small batches from independent brands, a good number of them working in the UK, and several with no water in the formulation, which is why the bottles are smaller and there is rather more in them than you would think.

Refills, where they exist.

Several of these brands make refillable dispensers or sell concentrates. It sounds worthy written down, and in practice it mostly means not buying the same plastic bottle nine times a year.

One sensible note.

Skin is personal, and nobody selling a face oil knows yours. Patch test anything new, read the ingredients if you have allergies, and see a pharmacist or GP about anything that needs treating rather than washing.
