Oak & Ember began, as a surprising number of good ideas do, on a runway. Ben and Lewis, two friends who had made the trip to the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival every year for longer than they could remember, were sat on a delayed flight wondering how they might become part of the whisky world they loved so much. A distillery was the dream, but distilleries are famously expensive things to build, so they combined Ben's background in buying with Lewis's talent for design and made something else instead: a range of rather handsome accessories for enjoying a good dram wherever life takes you.

The Flight Flask is the clever bit, a trio of slim flasks in a zip case that turns a weekend away into a tasting flight of your own choosing, with traveller sets and a build-your-own option for anyone particular about the line-up. There are insulated tumblers with a little window in the side, drinks travel bags and wine cooler sleeves, plus whisky stones and ice cube trays for the home bar. A number of whisky distilleries and specialist whisky shops already stock them, which, coming from people who know a thing or two about the subject, is a very glowing reference indeed.
