Estonia is roughly a quarter peatland, and Estonians have been going out into the bogs for their aches and their skin for a very long time indeed. Turbliss is what happens when somebody takes that entirely seriously, works with scientists and peatland specialists to find, lift and refine cosmetic grade peat, and then puts it into something you would be happy to keep on a bathroom shelf. Cosmetic peat is the whole brand. Everything else is built around it.

The range runs to bioactive peat masks for face, body and hair, a face oil, creams, and the bog tonic, which is peat water only mechanically filtered so that the humic substances stay in it. It arrives the colour of strong tea, which is precisely the right colour for it to be, and comes unscented in a dark glass bottle with a spray. The brand has collected a shelf of international beauty awards for all this, which is not bad going for a product that starts life underfoot in a marsh.
