Our Process
Unlike other scented candles, we hand pour our wax in three stages. Delivering a more consistent scent throw throughout the life of your natural candle. When combined with a higher essential oil concentration than most others on the market, you will experience a powerful scented yet calming aroma.

What's the candle made of?
Calm Candle is made with a plant-based wax blend — coconut and rapeseed waxes — and scented with pure essential oils, not synthetic fragrance. The wick is cotton, lead-free, and chosen to burn cleanly without soot.
How long does it burn for?
Approximately 34 hours of total burn time when used correctly. Follow the burn instructions below to get the full life out of your candle.
How do I look after my candle?
Three things make a candle last twice as long: (1) Trim the wick to 5mm before every burn — this stops smoking and uneven burning. (2) On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edge before extinguishing (around 2-3 hours) — this prevents tunnelling. (3) Don't burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Treat it well and it'll repay you with a long, clean, gentle scent throw.
What does it smell like?
A grounding blend of lavender, rosemary, bergamot, ylang ylang and frankincense — herbal and softly floral, with bright bergamot lifting the lavender and frankincense settling everything into a deep, calm base. Genuinely relaxing without being heavy.
Is it safe around children and pets?
As with any candle, never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep out of reach of children and pets. The wax and wick are non-toxic, but some essential oils can be unsuitable for cats in particular — we recommend keeping the candle in well-ventilated rooms and avoiding direct exposure to pets.
Why no synthetic fragrance?
Most high-street candles use synthetic fragrance oils — they're cheap, scent-strong, and shelf-stable, but they can release compounds when burned that some people find irritating. We use real essential oils for scent because they're how aromatherapy is meant to work — gentler, more genuine, and connected to the plant itself.
When should I light it?
The most loved moments are: in the evening as a wind-down cue, during yoga or meditation, while reading or journaling, or to create atmosphere before having people over. The visual ritual of lighting a candle is part of the calm — it signals to your brain that the day is shifting.
Is it suitable during pregnancy?
The essential oils in Calm Candle are lavender, rosemary, bergamot, ylang ylang and frankincense. During pregnancy, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before introducing any aromatherapy product, particularly in the first trimester.
Can I reuse the vessel after the candle's finished?
Yes — once the wax is fully used up, the vessel can be washed out with warm soapy water and reused as a small plant pot, brush holder, or storage jar. We design our vessels to be beautiful enough to keep, not throw away.
There is no warehouse. That is rather the point, and it does have consequences.
Every brand here packs and posts its own orders, in its own boxes, with tracked delivery. The brands you can see are the ones that ship to your country, so your parcel is usually making a fairly short journey: a potter in Bristol posting to Britain, a studio in California posting within America.
Which does mean that an order from three brands arrives as three parcels, posted by three different people, on three different days. Whether that is an inconvenience or a small extended birthday rather depends on your temperament. It also means three lots of postage, shown before you pay, because we would rather mention it here than at the till.

Fourteen days from delivery to tell us you have changed your mind, and fourteen more to get it back to us. No reason required, and we will not make you give one.
You are allowed to open it and try it on. Handle it as you would in a shop, and we will not quibble. Handle it as you would a rental car and we may deduct something for the difference.
Return postage is yours to pay, because the brand at the other end is a workshop rather than a warehouse. Some cover it themselves, and if yours does you will not be charged. Whatever you paid us to send it out, we refund either way, and the money goes back the way it came within fourteen days of the parcel reaching the brand.
A few things cannot come back, and only these: anything made or personalised to your order, sealed beauty products once the seal is broken, and anything perishable.
If something arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, none of the above applies. It costs you nothing, and we sort it.
