It started with a baby called Bella

Irene Breen's daughter Bella was born in Belfast and fed on demand every two hours. Exhausted and determined to keep going, Irene read up on how other mothers managed and found the lateral feeding position: lying on your side, baby beside you, getting something approaching rest out of the process. No pillow existed for it. So she designed one.

Two years of development, and an infant sleep lab

BellaMoon took over two years of design, development and testing, including independent testing by experts at an infant sleep lab in a UK university, the results of which fed back into both the design and the user guidance. BellaMoon describes it as the world's first modular pregnancy and lateral breastfeeding pillow.

One pillow, several jobs

The 3-in-1 Pregnancy and Nursing Pillow goes from full-body pregnancy support to nursing pillow to sitting support. The lie-down feeding pillow has an Anti-Roll Fin and Anti-Roll Barrier to help with positioning, and suits babies up to around 18 months. It is designed for supervised feeding, and BellaMoon is clear that once baby has latched off, baby goes onto their own separate sleep surface to sleep. Covers are organic cotton, removable and machine washable, in floral prints designed to be left out rather than hidden.
