Visit In Person

Shops You Can Actually Walk Into.

There is still nothing much like a good independent shop. Somewhere with an actual point of view, where whoever is behind the counter knows what they are selling and why, and where you tend to leave holding something you had not planned on and now cannot do without. Most of the brands we carry sell online only, which is sensible, and we are not about to complain about it. But a few of them keep a shop, a studio or a factory somewhere, and those are worth the detour.

What is in here

Every brand in this edit makes what it sells and has somewhere real you can go and watch it happen. Handloom cloth on the Caledonian Road. A botanical apothecary in Marylebone. A chocolatier on Duke Street in Henley. A working chocolate factory on the water in Salcombe, where you can stand at the glass and watch the truffles being made, which is a considerably better afternoon than most shopping.

If you cannot get there

All of them sell here too, so the visit is optional rather than compulsory. Find the rest of the catalogue in our Brands directory, or browse by what a brand stands for in our Shop by Purpose edit.

If you're making something rather good, we'd love to hear about it.

We're selective. In the nicest possible way.
