Salt + Steam

Made for people who take their baths seriously, and their showers a little less so.

Having spent far too long hunting for bath and skin products that ticked every box they cared about, and looked lovely on the side of the bath into the bargain, the people behind Salt + Steam gave up the search in 2020 and started making their own. It is the most sensible response to a fruitless search we have come across, and considerably more productive than ours, which tends to end with a second cup of tea.

Everything is mixed by hand in small batches in a North Yorkshire workshop, under the supervision of a labrador called Harper, whose precise contribution is unclear but whose attendance is, we are told, faultless. The range runs from bath salts, which can be topped up from refill bags instead of bought again, to body scrubs named, rather temptingly, Chai Latte and French Press, along with body butters, bath and body oils, shampoo bars and facial steams. The facial steams involve a bowl of hot water and a towel over the head, a posture nobody has yet managed to make look elegant, though a great many have tried.

For more for the bath, have a browse of our bathroom and beauty collections, or carry on to gift sets, health and wellness and gifts for her. There are more businesses like this one in small batch, and more close to home in our British-made collection.
