Dining + Side Tables
The One Piece Of Furniture Everyone Ends Up Round
The dining table earns its keep
It is where people eat, work, argue, do homework, wrap presents badly and sit long after the plates have gone. Nothing else in the house takes that much use or that many rings from wet glasses. Which is a reasonable argument for buying one properly, once, in solid timber that can be sanded back rather than a veneer that cannot.
Sizing, since everyone gets this wrong
Allow about 60cm of table edge per person, so a table 150cm long seats four comfortably and six at a push. Leave 90cm to a metre between the table edge and the wall, or nobody gets out. And measure the doorway before you fall in love with something, because a 200cm oak table has ended more than one delivery in disappointment.
Side tables do the quiet work
Nobody has ever regretted a side table. A place to set a cup down, a lamp, a book face down, whatever has been in your hand for the last ten minutes. Nest them, scatter them, put one somewhere illogical and watch it become the most used surface in the room.
What is here
Dining tables in solid wood, marble and metal. Console tables for hallways that need something. Side, lamp, nest and coffee tables. Independent brands throughout, several making to order, some working in aluminium and reclaimed timber, which is why the interesting pieces take a few weeks.
