Most candles are a jar with a wick in it and all the design effort has gone into the label. Interlude took the opposite view and started sculpting the wax itself. They spend several weeks being admired as objects before anybody is brave enough to put a match to one.
It began at a kitchen table in London, a mother and daughter wanting to make something beautiful that might slow their own week down a bit. The scents follow the same instinct and are built around memory rather than ingredient lists: fresh linen drying on a line in July, a woodland walk in the rain, roasted chestnuts, wild roses. Everything is hand poured in soy wax and vegan throughout, and there are reed diffusers for the rooms where an open flame would be tempting fate.
