Reflect Something Worth Looking At

The only decoration that also has a job

Everything else on the wall is there to be looked at. A mirror is looked into, every morning, usually by somebody not at their best. It is a peculiar brief and most manufacturers respond to it by producing a rectangle. This collection is the alternative: sculptural, decorative and rather more considered pieces from makers who treated it as an object in its own right.

Arches, sunbursts, and one or two that refuse to be symmetrical

Hand-finished arch mirrors, sunburst frames, asymmetric shapes that look like a mistake until you hang them, and minimal pieces built for a gallery wall. All independently made, several by people who also make the furniture it will end up above.

The clocks, which have a harder job

A clock has to be legible from across a room while also not being ugly, which is a constraint almost nothing else in the house has to satisfy. The ones here manage both, which sounds like faint praise and is not.

A word on hanging them

A mirror facing a window doubles the light. A mirror facing a wall reflects the wall. This is obvious the moment somebody says it and almost universally ignored, ourselves included until fairly recently.
