Accessibility Statement
Everyone Should Be Able to Use This Site.
Brix + Bailey is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of technology or ability. This page sets out what we are doing, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when we have got something wrong.
The Standard We Are Working To
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We have not reached it yet and we are not going to claim otherwise.
What We Are Doing
- Writing descriptive alt text on images, and asking our brand partners to do the same
- Checking colour contrast across the site
- Making the site navigable by keyboard alone
- Using readable fonts at sizes that respond to your browser settings
- Writing in clear, plain English
- Making sure links describe where they go rather than saying "click here"
- Keeping a visible focus indicator so keyboard users can see where they are
What We Know Is Not Right Yet
Some product images across the marketplace do not have alt text. Our brand partners supply their own imagery, and while we ask for descriptions we do not yet have them on everything. This is the largest gap we have and we are working through it.
Some third-party elements, including our chat widget and payment providers, are outside our direct control and may not fully meet the standard.
We have not commissioned an independent accessibility audit. When we do, we will publish what it finds.
Third-Party Content
Our website is built on Shopify. Some elements are controlled by Shopify rather than by us and are subject to their own accessibility work. More on Shopify's accessibility page.
If Something Does Not Work for You
Please tell us. Email mail@brixbailey.com with what you were trying to do and what happened. We reply within 2 business days.
If you would rather place an order by email than through the website, we will help you do that.
We would much rather hear about a problem than have somebody quietly give up.
