Not because one country makes better things than another, but because places have habits. Scandinavian design has spent seventy years arguing with itself about whether a chair needs to be that simple. The Baltic states kept small-scale leather and textile work alive through periods when most of Europe outsourced it. German manufacturing has an attitude to tolerances that borders on the theological. None of that is marketing. It is what happens when a way of making things is passed down long enough to become a default.
