Jewellery is one of the few things people keep for decades and hand on afterwards, which makes it worth choosing rather than acquiring. The makers here treat it as a craft with rules: how a stone is set, where the weight sits, what a piece looks like after five years rather than five minutes.

Lost-wax cast rings, hand-hammered silver, charms cast from wax originals, beaded pieces strung by the person who designed them. Some of these makers have been at it for twenty-five years and some for two, and both show in different ways.

Silver develops a patina. Gold takes on the marks of a life. Good jewellery is the rare category where use makes the thing better rather than worse, which is why the pieces worth buying are the ones you would wear on an ordinary Tuesday.
