The Stirling Candle Company
A candle company with a castle in its logo, and a perfectly good reason for it.
The business began in March 2023, but the name goes back twenty years further, to a wedding in the Chapel Royal at Stirling Castle. The castle has been their special place ever since, so it went into the name and onto the logo, which is a far more romantic origin than most brands can manage and a considerably more romantic one than ours.
Everything is hand poured in their Stirling studio in a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax, and each scent is chosen by asking whether it would make them want to light it right now, a question to which our own answer is, regrettably, always yes. The range runs from fresh florals to cinnamon bun and crackling log fire, and every new fragrance is tested on friends and family before it goes anywhere near a customer.
The Scottish Collection is the one to start with if you are buying for someone far from home: Ochil Gorse, Wild Highland Heather, Gloaming Skies and Coastal Breeze & Sea Salt, each in its own tartan-inspired design, as wax melts and as travel tins, which are exactly the right size to pack and very slightly too small to share.
