A Chemistry Teacher Who Could Not Find A Decent Notebook

The formulae were wrong

During lockdown Damian Hardacre, who teaches chemistry in Aberdeen, went looking for a science notebook and found nothing he could bear to own. The covers had incorrect formulae. Physics had been muddled up with chemistry. None of it looked as though a scientist had been anywhere near it, which, as anyone who loves a subject will tell you, is intensely irritating. So he made his own, posted it on Reddit for opinions, and people immediately asked where they could buy one.

The covers are the real thing

Each design uses actual notes, drawings and papers from the history of science. Newton. Da Vinci. Othniel Marsh's Stegosaurus. Mary Anning's drawing of Plesiosaurus macrocephalus. Chemistry, physics, geology, palaeontology, space exploration. Everything checked, because the entire point is that it is correct.

Made properly, in Britain

Designed in Aberdeen and produced by a UK manufacturing partner on FSC paper. The notebooks lay flat, which matters if you actually write in them, and the paper has been independently assessed as fountain pen friendly, meaning the ink stays where you put it. There are fine bone china mugs and desk mats too.
