Soap is one of those things nobody gives a moment's thought to until they use a genuinely good one, at which point the difference is rather startling. Kernow build theirs from a carefully chosen set of plant oils rather than whatever happens to be cheapest by the tonne, and that is what decides the lather, the hardness and how skin feels ten minutes after you have got out. Each oil is in there doing a specific job. Getting the balance between them right is the whole craft, and it takes considerably longer than the alternative.

The result is a bar that cleans and conditions in the same pass, which is what soap did for several hundred years before the industry worked out how to make it faster and worse. It will also outlast the supermarket equivalent by a considerable margin, provided you keep it somewhere it can dry out between uses. Nobody does this. Everybody should. A soap dish with holes in it is the single cheapest improvement available to a bathroom.
