Mama Bamboo

Roughly Four Thousand Of Them

Which is the number nobody mentions

That is approximately how many nappies a child gets through before they are done with them, and very nearly all of them are still in the ground. Laura Crawford started Mama Bamboo in 2018 to do something about the arithmetic without asking parents to accept a nappy that leaks.

It works, which was the difficult part

In 2020 Mother & Baby voted their range Best Performance Disposable Nappy, ahead of Pampers and four supermarket brands. Not best eco nappy. Best nappy. Three more golds followed at the Organic Baby Awards in 2023. Wetness indicators, channel cores, elasticated legs, the lot.

First European nappy company to become a B Corp

Which involves an outside body going through the books rather than the company saying encouraging things about itself. Nappy production runs on 50% solar, the wipes factory on 60%.

The composting claim, stated properly

Their bamboo viscose has been tested by TÜV Rheinland against five international standards and degrades in industrial composting conditions in 120 days. Industrial, not the heap at the bottom of your garden. Mama Bamboo say so themselves rather than leaving you to find out, which is more than the category generally manages.

We're selective. In the nicest possible way.
