Kai aš mažas buvau
Somewhere to keep the tiny socks, and someone to keep the tiny person company.
The name Kai aš mažas buvau (When I was little) tells you most of what you need to know. The brand began in Lithuania in 2020 with a lovely idea: that the arrival of a child deserves a little more ceremony than a text message and a blurry photograph. First came birth prints and posters, then personalised memory boxes and height charts, and in 2021 a whole menagerie of animal pillow toys, which turned out to be the happiest discovery of the lot.
The soft toys are handmade in Lithuania and double as cushions, which is very efficient of them: a grey wolf of the Lithuanian forests standing 45 cm tall, a swan with a crown and a shiny beak made with llama wool, and a giant faux-fur moon for the corner of the nursery. They are made for cuddles, play and long car journeys from six months, and look rather good on a shelf in between.
Then there are the memory boxes, handmade from wood with hearts cut into both sides and a cheerful beaded handle, in mint, lilac or baby blue. They are just the place for hospital name bands, first socks and the curl you could not quite bring yourself to throw away, and they make a quietly brilliant present for a new arrival.
