Seaweed, a university lab, and an accountant who would not let it go.

Berit Joosep was an accountant in Tallinn with two children and no background in cosmetics whatsoever, which is not the standard origin story for a skincare line. She spent two years on algae, worked alongside researchers at Tallinn University, and came out the other side with four creams: day, night, eye, and one for men. Astaxanthin and furcellaran, which sound alarming and are not.

Astaxanthin is the carotenoid that makes salmon and flamingos pink, and it is an antioxidant. Furcellaran comes from a red seaweed that grows in the Baltic. Berrichi combines the two with five plant oils. The formulations are Ecocert certified, vegan and cruelty free, and free from parabens, sulphates, phthalates and synthetic fragrance.
