Downward Frog
Bend, bounce, sweat, snooze, or simply admire it from the sofa.
Downward Frog is run by two sisters, one an artist and the other a yoga teacher and product developer, which is about as tidy a division of labour as any family business could hope for. Every design begins life as an original hand-drawn piece of artwork and then, rather than being framed and hung somewhere sensible, it is printed onto a yoga mat. Their story runs, in their own words, from the beaches of New Zealand to the parks of South London, and the mats carry a little of both: bright, cheerful and with just enough mischief in them to make the morning stretch feel like a treat.
The full-size mats are 4mm and cushioned, with a natural tree rubber base and a top in vegan suede or coconut-fibre PU, printed with water-based inks and made without PVC, silicone or toxic glue. For anyone who practises on the move there is a 2mm travel mat that folds up and weighs just 1.2kg, and for the smallest yogis there is the Froglet, a light and colourful mat made for children. One design also comes in XL, for those of us who need a little more room to wobble.
For more for the mat, have a browse of our sport and loungewear + gymwear collections, or carry on to gifts for her. There are more businesses like this one in our Women-Led and Family-Owned collections, and more from closer to home in our British Brands collection.
